 Thuraya
is a regional mobile satellite system that provides satellite telephony
and data services to Europe, The Mediterranean, Northern Africa and
the Middle East region covering more than 100 countries. Established
in April 1997 and launched in late 2001, Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications
Co. is a consortium of over 21 national telcos and investment houses.
Utilizing two geostationary
satellites and a ground station based in Sharjah, UAE., Thuraya offers
a unique product mix of mobile satellite and GSM services from one small
handheld satellite phone. Thuraya has roaming agreements with many global
phone GSM operators around the world which allows ease of use then satellite
coverage is not required (within populated regions).

the Caribbean with expanding coverage options soon. It offers crystal clear
voice service and moderate speed packet or circuit switched data @ 9600bps.

It offers clear voice service and slow speed data 2400-9600bps. Cost of
