StarFire 2-Way Broadband
Satellite System

NetStar Technologies’ StarFire
2-Way Broadband Satellite System is a breakthrough in two-way satellite
communications. The StarFire’s low profile (5.9”) phase array antenna system
is designed to provide communications for vehicles and maritime vessels
on-the-move. The innovative antenna system automatically searches for and
acquires the designated satellite signal and maintains pointing via automatic
tracking and control of the azimuth, elevation and polarization angles
while the vehicle is in motion.
The StarFire 2-Way Broadband
Satellite System is a highly sought after and valuable system. The system
is designed 2-way high speed real-time satellite data, fax, voice, and
video communications links to moving vehicles and vessels independent of
terrestrial infrastructures that are susceptible to local service interruptions,
natural disasters, sabotage and more. Applications include:
-
High-speed on-the-move communications
for military vehicles, marine vessels and operations
-
High-speed, portable on-the-move
communications for military soldiers and patrols on foot
-
High-speed Internet access for
moving vehicles such as motor-homes, buses, trucks, vans, and SUV’s
-
Emergency communications for
federal, state and local first responders
-
High-speed communications for
trains and other commercial enterprise customers
Operation Features

performance varies as a function of the satellite link (beam EIRP and G/T)
and the satellite modem parameters.
System Components
The StarFire 2-Way Broadband
Satellite System consists of a low-profile, vehicle roof-mounted phase
array antenna connected to a controller and a satellite modem inside the
vehicle. Modem choices include:
-
iDirect 3000 5000 or 7000 series
IP satellite router
-
Comtech Vipersat CDM 570 or
CDM 570L IP enabled modem
The roof mounted antenna includes
the BUC (Block Up Converter) and the LNB. The controller supplies the power
to the antenna and controls the antenna movements. Additional networking
equipment includes a router, WIFI access point, Voice over IP gateway for
creating a mobile, in-motion hotspot or communications gateway. Optional
equipment includes web server, network accelerator, two-way radio
interconnect system, land mobile radio gateway and a government approved
encryption system.
Cabling and Installation
The roof mounted antenna
is connected with three cables to the controller and modem within the vehicle.
Two RJ-58 cables using F-type connectors connect the antenna to the satellite
modem (transmit signal and receive Signal). One RJ-58 control cable using
TNC connectors connects the antenna to the controller (for DC power and
control data)
